Medical Diagnosis Camp (2023)

Every year, 3rd January is celebrated as Barsi Samagam of Reverend Saints Puran Brahm Giani Sant Baba Bhag Singh Ji, Sant Baba Hardyal Singh Musafir Ji and Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji (Founder Chancellor of SBBSU and SBBSMCS), the great visionaries belonging to Dera Santpura, Jabbar. Thousands of followers of Dera Sahib come here on this day to pay homage to their saints.
On this sacred occasion, the department of Life Sciences, Allied Health Sciences & Agriculture Sciences organized “MEDICAL CAMP” at Dera Sahib, Jabbar, Villlage Manko.
The major objective of the camp was to provide free healthcare and diagnostic services to the camp visitors and local residents.
The camp was organized under the aegis of IQAC and Institutional Innovation Cell (IIC) in association with other disciplines of Allied Health Sciences.
The camp was inaugurated with ARDAAS by the Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji (Honorable Chancellor of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University) accompanied by Vice Chancellor Dr. (Prof.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, S. Hardaman Singh Minhas Ji (Secretary, SBBSMCS), Head of Department Coordinator and all faculty members of the department of Life Sciences were among the other dignitaries present on the occasion.
In addition to the teachers, about 52 students participated as volunteers and assisted in registration, general health checkup including BP monitoring and blood collection of the camp visitors.
Various diagnostic procedures such as blood sugar testing, blood group testing, test for rheumatoid arthritis etc. were also carried out.
Around 70 people were benefitted from the camp. Out of them, three people were tested RA positive and were guided for the quantitative testing and subsequent treatment.
Most of the people tested for blood sugar were diabetic and were motivated for regular monitoring of their blood sugar level. They were guided to consume more food with low glycemic index to keep their sugar level under control.
Besides, physiotherapy treatment was also given to the patients coming with cervical, knee and other joint pain problems by the physiotherapy discipline of allied health sciences.
Free medicines to the poor and needy patients were also distributed by the Guru Nanak Sadh Sangat Charitable Hospital, Kalra which is a sister institute of Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Charitable Society.
The expenses for the consumables such as blood sampling vials, lancets, cotton rolls, masks, gloves, needles, syringes, glucometer and testing kits etc. were provided by the SBBSU.
Overall; the camp was amazing experience for the student’s. All the camp organizing members were felicitated with mementoes by the management members of Dera Sahib, Jabbar.
