Role of Yoga in Managing Stress

With the heavenly blessings of reverend Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Bramh Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor, Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji and under the dynamic leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Vice-Chancellor, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, a Webinar on the topic “Role of Yoga in Managing Stress” was organized by Students’ Counselling Cell, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University on May 12, 2022 through online platform. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically in the event. Dr. Pravin Kumar, Dean, School of Humanities and Physical Education, CT University, Ludhiana, Punjab, was the resource person for the webinar. He has more than 30 years of teaching experience. He is gold medalist in BPEd. He has published more than 35 research papers in International and National journals. He has attended approximately 40 workshops, conferences seminars as a resource person and as participant. He has supervised 4 Ph.D. 22 M.Phil and 5 Master’s degree dissertations. He is member of Editorial Board of many journals. He possesses high academic qualities, clear strategic vision and outstanding leadership qualities. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Shaveta Sharma, Associate Professor and University Student Counsellor. During the address, students and faculty were sensitized about the establishment of broad based Student Counselling System at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, clearly stating the objectives & functions of the system. Dr. Pravin Kumar talked about various Yoga Asanas to improve our mental health. He also emphasized the importance of ‘Breathing Exercises’ like ‘PRANAYAMA’ for enhancing sleep quality and mindfulness. The students’ response was overwhelming. Mr. Anmol Preet Pal Singh and Ms. Rajveer Kaur, Institute Coordinators (Students’ Counselling Cell) were also present. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Convener of the programme.
