The World Donor Day is worldwide celebrated on 14th June of every year with the objective to raise awareness about need for safe blood and blood products for the blood transfusions. On this special day, faculty members of Department of Life Sciences & Allied Health Sciences (UIS) organized “Blood Donation Camp” in collaboration with Satnam Hospital Blood Centre, Hoshiarpur in their premises on 14th June, 2022.
In the camp, Dr. Amarjit Lal (Incharge, Blood Bank) and his team members were there to assist the conduct of camp. Initially, all the volunteers of SBBSU were asked to fill the medical forms to give details about their health-related information in order to see their fitness as blood donors. Then a preliminary health examination including checking of body weight, blood pressure and body temperature was conducted. Afterwards, the samples of blood donors were examined to ensure their suitability for blood donation. Each volunteer donated One Unit of blood for storage in blood bank. After blood donation, the donors were taken to the relaxation room for the rest of few minutes and given refreshments.
All hospital staff members and organizers were enthralled to see the enthusiasm and passion of participating volunteers to serve the humanity for novel cause. They congratulate and appreciate the initiative and the efforts that department has taken for the service of humanity. All the volunteers were awarded with certificates. At the conclusion of camp, Dean UIS, Dr. Shweta Singh insisted the need and importance of blood donation and ensured the organizers that SBBSU is committed and will continue to organize such camps in future.
