Tiyan Rangley Punjab Diyan’ Celebrated with Traditional Grandeur at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University

With the heavenly blessings of Reverend Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and Sant Baba Dalawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and the benign endorsement of Hon’ble Chancellor Sant Manmohan Singh Ji, and under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Palwinder Singh, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University celebrated the vibrant Punjabi cultural festival “Tiyan Rangley Punjab Diyan” with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour.
The event was organized by the Deputy Director Youth Welfare, Ms. Shaina Parmar, and the Student Welfare Department.
The celebrations commenced with a soulful Gurmat Shabad Kirtan presented by Prof. Kailash and his team. This was followed by captivating cultural performances by the female students, who showcased traditional Punjabi folk songs and Giddha in colourful Punjabi attire. Their energetic performances enthralled the audience and beautifully reflected the spirit of Punjabi culture.
To encourage creativity and showcase the artistic talents of students, special competitions in Mehndi, Rangoli and Turban Tying were organized. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated their creativity and artistic skills.
The campus was beautifully decorated in traditional Punjabi colours and festive themes. Various fruit stalls were set up by the female students, while traditional peengh (swings) were installed under the trees across the campus, adding to the charm and festive spirit of the occasion. Female students and women faculty members dressed in traditional Punjabi attire further enhanced the cultural ambience.
The event stage was efficiently conducred by Dr. Smriti Thakur, while Dr. Sonia and Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur served as Co-Conveners. Their dedicated efforts and meticulous coordination contributed significantly to the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Palwinder Singh extended warm greetings to all staff members and students on the occasion of Tiyan. He highlighted the rich cultural legacy of Punjab and said that Punjab is the sacred land of Gurus, Peers, Prophets, fairs and festivals. He emphasized that every festival, whether Diwali, Baisakhi, Lohri or Tiyan, carries its own unique historical and cultural significance.
The Vice Chancellor stated that Tiyan is not merely a celebration welcoming the monsoon but also a symbol of Punjab’s rich heritage, social bonding, respect for daughters and their independent identity. He emphasized that nations progress when women and daughters contribute equally alongside men in every sphere of life.
Appreciating the talent of the female students, he said that the daughters of the university are excelling not only in cultural activities but also in academics and are achieving new milestones. He encouraged students to take pride in their rich heritage while pursuing academic excellence and to remain committed to preserving the cultural traditions of Punjab.
Deputy Director Youth Welfare, Ms. Shaina Parmar, who was present on the occasion, appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and the efforts of the Student Welfare team in organizing the celebration. She highlighted the importance of such events in connecting students with their cultural roots while nurturing creativity, confidence and teamwork. The event was graced by S. Amarjit Singh, S. Kulwant Singh and S. Joginder Singh Ajram, along with other dignitaries. The distinguished judges, Dr. Jasbir Kaur and Mrs. Arshdeep Kaur, also attended the programme and evaluated the various competitions.
The celebrations concluded with the felicitation of students who secured first, second and third positions in the various competitions. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to celebrate, preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
The entire programme was a beautiful celebration of Punjabi culture, tradition, creativity, togetherness and the vibrant spirit of youth, making ‘Tiyan Rangley Punjab Diyan’ a memorable occasion at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University.
