As part of the “TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” initiative and with reference to the special
lecture on Tuberculosis awareness organized under UGC guidelines, The University
Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Discipline of Radiology, Sant Baba Bhag Singh
University (SBBSU), also taken the initiative to organized an awareness drive on
31/08/2026 at Village Padhiana.
A team of 30 students and 2 faculty members actively participated in the initiative. The
students and faculty interacted with villagers and created awareness regarding
Tuberculosis (TB), its mode of spread, causes, signs and symptoms, prevention, early
diagnosis, and the importance of timely treatment.
The initiative aimed to educate the community about TB and encourage people to seek
medical advice and diagnostic services at the earliest in case of suspected symptoms. The
students also emphasized the importance of maintaining respiratory hygiene, covering the
mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, and avoiding stigma associated with TB
patients.
The awareness drive reflected the university’s commitment towards community
engagement, health education, and contributing to the goal of a TB-free India.
