Objective:
The awareness program on healthy lifestyles focused on educating individuals about the importance of various nutrients,
the impact of physical activity on mental and physical health, and strategies for managing stress effectively.
Event Highlights:
The Department of Electrical Engineering, UIET, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organized an Extension Activity titled
“Awareness Programme on Healthy Life Style” at Govt Senior Secondary School, Lambra, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab, on 8th May, 2025.
A total of 6 students and 2 faculty members participated in organizing and conducting this activity, which emphasized the following key areas:
- Nutritional Guidance:
- Balanced Diet: Promoted the intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
- Reduced Intake: Educated on limiting processed foods, added sugars, and saturated fats.
- Hydration: Highlighted the importance of regular water intake throughout the day.
- Physical Activity:
- Regular Exercise: Encouraged at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week.
- Daily Integration: Promoted incorporating physical activity into daily routines (e.g., walking, biking).
- Stress Management:
- Healthy Coping Mechanisms: Suggested mindfulness, exercise, deep breathing, and nutritious food for stress relief.
- Avoidance of Harmful Habits: Warned against smoking and excessive alcohol as coping tools.
- Overall Well-being:
- Sleep Hygiene: Highlighted the significance of proper sleep for physical and mental restoration.
- Mental Health: Addressed awareness of mental health and promoted seeking help when needed.
- Hygiene: Emphasized personal cleanliness as a preventive health measure.
The event proved impactful in spreading awareness among students and encouraging a healthier lifestyle through practical habits.
