Debate Competition on Artificial Intelligence

1. Introduction

The Department of B.Tech CSE (AI & ML), Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, organized a Debate Competition on 18 August 2026 at the Computer Lab. The event was organized by Sahil Kumar and Tanisha with the objective of encouraging students to develop confidence, communication skills, critical thinking, logical reasoning, and the ability to present their views effectively.

Students from B.Tech CSE, B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) Section A, and B.Tech CSE Section B participated in the competition. The debate provided students with an opportunity to discuss current issues related to Artificial Intelligence and express their views in a structured and competitive environment.

The judges evaluated the participants on the basis of their arguments, clarity of expression, confidence, relevance of points, presentation, and ability to respond to opposing views.

3. Debate Rounds

The competition was conducted through multiple rounds. The topics were based on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on students, creativity, and human society.

The participants presented arguments both in favour of and against the impact of Artificial Intelligence on human creativity.

4. Final Round

Topic: “Will AI Replace Humans?”

The final was contested between Team C and Team D.

Team D was appreciated for its strong arguments, confident presentation, effective teamwork, and overall performance throughout the competition.

5. Event Highlights

The debate competition successfully provided students with a platform to:

  • Express their opinions confidently.
  • Develop public speaking and communication skills.
  • Improve logical and critical thinking.
  • Understand different perspectives on Artificial Intelligence.
  • Learn how to support arguments with relevant points.
  • Participate in healthy academic competition and teamwork.

6. Conclusion

The Debate Competition was successfully conducted in an engaging and competitive atmosphere. The participation of students from different CSE and CSE (AI & ML) groups made the event interactive and diverse.

The competition helped students develop communication, confidence, reasoning, teamwork, and respectful discussion. The final round, “Will AI Replace Humans?”, provided an opportunity for students to think critically about the future relationship between humans and Artificial Intelligence.

The event concluded with the declaration of Team D as the winner, marking a successful and meaningful academic activity organized by the students of the B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) Department under the guidance of Faculty Coordinator Er. Akashdeep Singh Rana.
