1. Introduction

An extension activity on “Awareness of Cyber Crime and Cyber Security” was conducted on 6th May 2025 at Government High School, Kalra, under the initiative of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University. The event was aimed at sensitizing school students and staff about the growing threats in cyberspace and the importance of cyber security in daily digital life.

2. Participants

The activity involved enthusiastic participation from:

• Faculty members of BCA and MCA programs
• Students of BCA and MCA, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University
• Teachers and students of Government High School, Kalra

3. Objective

The primary goals of the extension activity were:

• To educate school students about various forms of cyber crimes.
• To highlight the importance of cyber security practices.
• To guide students on safe internet usage, responsible digital behavior, and legal aspects of cyber laws.

4. Activities Conducted

The session included the following key activities:

• Interactive Presentation: Delivered by MCA students and faculty members, focusing on cyber bullying, online frauds, phishing, identity theft, and misuse of social media.
• Demonstration: Real-life case studies were discussed to make students aware of how cyber crimes occur and how to prevent them.
• Q&A Session: An open interaction between university students and school students to clarify doubts and share real-time cyber security tips.
• Distribution of Pamphlets: Informative brochures on cyber safety were distributed among the school students and teachers.

5. Outcome

• Increased awareness among high school students about cyber threats.
• Equipped them with knowledge on how to stay safe online.
• Encouraged a proactive approach to digital responsibility.

The session was well-received, and the school authorities appreciated the efforts of the university faculty and students in spreading such crucial knowledge at the grassroots level.

6. Conclusion

This outreach program helped bridge the knowledge gap regarding cyber security at the school level. It demonstrated the commitment of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University towards social responsibility and community engagement. Further such initiatives are planned in the future to continue promoting digital literacy and safety among youth.
