Under the aegis of IQAC and Swachh Bharat Mission, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences organized an extension activity: Cleanliness Drive in SBBSU adoptive village Padhiana, Jalandhar. A total of 30 students participated enthusiastically under the leadership of Ms. Pooja and Mr. Vishal Vasudeva, Assistant Professor in the Department of LS & AHS at SBBSU.The objective of the activity was to raise awareness about cleanliness, sanitation, and proper waste management practices among the villagers. The villagers were guided on various methods for household waste disposal. The information on these methods was shared through posters and direct communication with villagers. Following the awareness session, the students actively participated in cleaning the village surroundings, including streets and common areas. They also guided the villagers to keep their waste segregated as biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste into separate bins.The event concluded with an interactive session between students, teachers, and villagers to reinforce the importance of cleanliness for a healthy and sustainable future.Overall, the drive was a successful step towards realizing the vision of the Swachh Bharat Mission and promoting community-driven sanitation initiatives. It enhances the awareness among villagers about household waste disposal and instilled the sense of social responsibility among the students through their active participation.
