Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) – Village Attachment Report

The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) program is an integral component of the B.Sc. Agriculture curriculum, typically conducted in the 7th semester as per the 6th Dean Committee Report of ICAR. It aims to provide students with hands-on experience in real-life agricultural settings and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical field applications.

Village Attachment Overview

A total of 28 students were assigned to various villages of Jalandhar district, including:

• Arhana Kalan
• Padhiana
• Manko
• Khiala
• Chukhiara
• Ghurial

In these villages, students engaged in a wide range of agricultural and rural development activities aimed at fostering real-world learning.

Objectives of Village Visits

• Understanding the socio-economic conditions of farmers
• Observing and participating in various farming practices
• Identifying field-level agricultural problems and suggesting possible solutions
• Interacting with local farmers, extension workers, and agri-entrepreneurs
• Conducting surveys and collecting data for academic analysis

Learning Outcomes

The RAWE village visits helped students enhance their communication skills, gain practical agricultural knowledge, and understand the dynamics of rural livelihoods. Under the supervision of faculty members and local agricultural officers, students worked in areas such as:

• Crop production and protection
• Animal husbandry practices
• Farm planning and resource management
