An Extension Activity on “Nature Conservation”

An Extension Activity on “Nature Conservation” was conducted by the Department of Electrical Engineering, UIET, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU), Jalandhar, on 6th November 2025 at Govt. High School, Bhagowal, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The event aimed to educate students and the community about the significance of preserving natural resources, biodiversity, and ecological balance.

A total of 10 students and 2 faculty members participated in executing the extension activity. The program promoted sustainable living practices, environmental protection, and hands-on learning experiences through activities such as awareness sessions, plantation drives, and demonstrations on waste management.

The initiative also motivated students to become environmental ambassadors and encouraged long-term responsibility toward conserving habitats, protecting wildlife, and integrating eco-friendly behaviour into daily life. Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and community involvement, the activity successfully strengthened environmental values and promoted a greener mindset among the participants.

Objectives

• To create awareness among students and the community about the importance of protecting natural resources and biodiversity.
• To promote sustainable practices such as reducing waste, conserving water, and minimizing pollution.
• To encourage community participation in environmental protection through clean-up drives, plantation campaigns, and conservation initiatives.
• To develop a sense of environmental responsibility and eco-friendly behaviour among participants.
• To inspire students to adopt roles as environmental ambassadors in their local communities.
• To promote hands-on learning by engaging participants in field activities such as tree plantation and waste management practices.
• To instill long-term commitment towards protecting natural habitats and wildlife.
• To integrate environmental values into academic and social development through experiential learning.
