Activity Report
Under the aegis of IQAC& IIC, The Department of Physical Sciences, UIS, organized an extension activity in the form of an awareness drive on 'Green Mind and Healthy Body' at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Daroli Kallan, under the guidance of Dr. Honey Sharma (Convenor),Ms. Arwinder Kaur (Co-Convenor), Ms. Simrandeep Kaur (Co-Convenor) and Dr.Surjit Kaur.
The Physical Sciences Department organized an awareness drive on the theme “Green Mind, Healthy Body” with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and healthy living among school students. As part of this extension activity, the students and faculty members visited a Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Daroli Kallan to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being through eco-friendly habits and positive lifestyles. The activity was conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation from both university and school students.
The event began with an introduction to the theme and its significance in today’s lifestyle. Students of the department prepared informative charts, posters, and awareness materials related to environmental protection, healthy eating habits, cleanliness, exercise, and mental wellness. They also delivered speeches to explain how a healthy environment contributes to a healthy mind and body. The awareness session was made more interactive and engaging through fun activities and student participation.One of the major highlights of the activity was the meditation session conducted byShefali Vashisht, student of M.Sc.(Hons.) Physics . Through this session, school students learned about the importance of meditation, relaxation, and stress management for maintaining mental peace and emotional balance. The practical demonstration encouraged students to adopt healthy daily habits and focus on their overall well-being.At the end of the awareness drive, candies were distributed among the school students as a small token of appreciation and encouragement.
The awareness drive received a positive response from the school students and staff members. The activities created awareness in an enjoyable and meaningful manner and encouraged students to become more responsible towards their health and the environment. The event concluded successfully with active participation, valuable learning experiences, and a strong message of creating a greener and healthier tomorrow.
