With the blessings of Chancellor Baba Manmohan Singh Ji and under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU) successfully organized an expert talk on ‘Creating a Sustainable Environment’ related to Green Campus Action Program under Bharat Environment Program- A Bharat Sustainable Campus Mission 2026 during Earth Week (22 April 2026 to 29 April 2026). The event was conducted under the aegis of IQAC and the Institution’s Innovation Cell, SBBSU.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head, Faculty of Agriculture, SBBSU. This was followed by a keynote lecture by Dr. Kulbir Singh, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SBBSU who emphasized the importance of tree plantation and maintaining cleanliness as essential steps towards preserving the Earth. He highlighted the significance of Earth Week and encouraged students to actively contribute towards environmental protection by adopting eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. He further elaborated on the need to create a greener and healthier campus environment and stressed that collective efforts are required to ensure sustainability for future generations. Further, students also expressed their views on clean and green environment.
The programme was conducted with the full support and active involvement of ten faculty members and 50 students from Faculty of Agriculture. This initiative successfully instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among students and reinforced the importance of collective action in building a greener, cleaner and more sustainable future.
At the end of the programme, students shared their views on the importance of Earth Day and environmental conservation. They promoted ideas like saying no to plastic, saving water and electricity and using eco-friendly practices. They encouraged others to plant trees and protect natural resources thus inspiring everyone to contribute towards a greener environment.
