The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) assigned an academic visit activity to the Department of Physical Sciences at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU). As part of this initiative, an educational visit was organized to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali (IISER Mohali) on 15th April, 2026

Objective: The aim of the activity was

  • To expose students to advanced research facilities and ongoing scientific work in a premier institute.
  • To help students understand how theoretical concepts learned in classrooms are applied in real research and experiments.
  • To motivate students toward pursuing higher studies and careers in scientific research and innovation.
  • To provide firsthand experience of laboratories, instruments, and research methodologies used at IISER.
  • To enable interaction with faculty members, researchers, and students for guidance and inspiration.
  • To inform students about various academic programs, research opportunities, and career pathways in science.
  • To encourage curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students.
  • To introduce students to the interdisciplinary nature of modern scientific research.
  • To explore possibilities for future academic collaborations and student exchange programs.
  • Under this activity, a group of about 50 students visited at “Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali on 15th April 2026. The visit was managed and executed by two faculty members Dr. Satnam Singh and Dr. Surjit Kaur (Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Sciences).
  • The students reached the IISER Mohali campus at around 11:30 AM. At the beginning of the visit, the students had an interactive session with Professor Arvind, a renowned educationist, quantum physicist and former Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala. He shared his insights and motivated the students.
  • They interacted with faculty members, research scholars, and students of the institute. During these interactions, they learned about ongoing research activities, academic programs, and the overall learning environment at IISER. This helped them gain insight into higher education and research opportunities in the field of science.
  • The students also participated in laboratory visits and observed various advanced instruments and experimental setups. Faculty members and researchers explained different scientific techniques and ongoing projects, which enhanced the student’s understanding of practical applications of theoretical concepts. This hands-on exposure enabled them to connect classroom learning with real-world research.
  • During the visit, students explored world-class scientific laboratories and facilities. They observed advanced instruments such as the Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) facility, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) research lab, anthropology lab, and several other research laboratories. The students also visited the institute’s library.
  • The main objective of this visit was to motivate students toward higher education and research careers. Faculty members guided them regarding career opportunities in science, and academic pathways, which proved highly beneficial and inspiring.
  • Overall, the visit was a meaningful and transformative experience for the students. It provided valuable exposure to a premier research institution and broadened their academic perspective.
  • Such activities help in enhancing student’s understanding of scientific research, fostering curiosity, and developing a spirit of inquiry among the younger generation. These interactions inspire students to pursue excellence and become contributors to scientific advancement and societal development.

ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਭਾਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਤੀ 13 ਅਗਸਤ 2024 ਨੂੰ ‘ਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ’ ਬੜੇ ਚਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਯੋਗ ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਮਲਕੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ (ਬਾਨੀ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ) ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਾਬਾ ਦਿਲਾਵਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ (ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ੀਰਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ, ਮਾਣਯੋਗ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਸੰਤ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਪ-ਕੁਲਪਤੀ ਡਾ.ਧਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਰਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਸ. ਹਰਦਮਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਿਨਹਾਸ (ਸਕੱਤਰ) ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸ.ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ,ਸ. ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ,ਸ. ਜੋਗਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਜੜਾਮ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਧੀਰ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਇਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ।ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਧਾਰਾਈ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਚੰਦ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿੱਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਭੰਗੜੇ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਨ ...........
