Activity Report
Hearing impairment is not a limitation but a different way of experiencing the world. Communication comes from the heart, not just the ears.
With the heavenly blessings of Reverend Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), and with the benign endorsement of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, this event was organized under the guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, and Dean of UIET and UICAIS Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Kaur. The CSE Department organized a Donation Drive at Pingalwara Asha Kiran School, Hoshiarpur, to support and interact with students with hearing impairments. A total of 12 students and 2 faculty members, Er. Manpreet Singh (A.P. CSE) and Mr. Gurpreet Singh (Lab Technician), actively participated in this noble initiative. Ms. Aman, a staff member, shared a brief history of Pingalwara and the inspiring life story of Bhai Puran Singh, who dedicated his life to social service. He also introduced students to Punjab Sign Language, which was invented by the Pingalwara Branch, Amritsar, and is the only sign language used in the region. He taught basic sign language gestures to the students, helping them improve their communication skills. The school authorities appreciated the efforts and requested another visit in the future to help students learn basic computer concepts. This initiative was a meaningful step towards inclusive education and community service, encouraging the department to continue such efforts.
