Extension Activity
With the heavenly blessings of Reverend Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), and with the benign endorsement of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, this event was organized under the guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, and Dean of UIET Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Kaur. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an extension activity at the School of Eminence, Adampur, on the topic Cyber Threats and Internet Awareness. The objective of the program was to spread awareness among students about safe internet practices, various types of cyber threats, and preventive measures to ensure secure online experiences. The session commenced with a warm welcome to Er. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, CSE Department, who delivered an informative lecture introducing the concept of cyber threats. He explained the different types of cybercrimes, such as phishing, identity theft, hacking, and malware attacks, while emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity, strong passwords, privacy settings, and responsible online behavior. Following this, Aman Kumar, a B.Tech 5th semester student, delivered a detailed lecture highlighting real-world examples of internet fraud and safety measures. His interactive session helped students understand how to identify and avoid online scams. Subsequently, Sumit Kumar, a B.Tech 7th semester student, conducted a practical demonstration to make the students aware of how cyber-attacks occur and the methods to prevent them. Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Lab Technician, played a key role in assisting with the practical setup, ensuring smooth execution of the demonstration. The program concluded with Shri Ram Asra, Principal of the School of Eminence and Adampur Block Nodal Officer, sharing his valuable thoughts on the necessity of cyber awareness in today’s technology-driven world. He expressed appreciation to the CSE Department for their efforts in educating young learners about online safety. He also delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the speakers, demonstrators, and organizers for their valuable contributions. Overall, the activity proved to be highly engaging and informative, equipping the students with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
