Introduction

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and the endorsement of worthy Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar (Vice Chancellor), Mr. (Prof.) Rajinder Kumar (Registrar), and Dr. Vijay Dhir (Dean Academics).

On the occasion of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, the students and faculty members of UIET took the initiative to organize an extension activity in Village Daroli Khurd. This event was planned with the aim of spreading awareness on cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable practices, while also ensuring active community involvement. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the NGO Sant Baba Darshan Singh Ji, founded by the respected social worker Shri Gurdeep Singh Ji, who has been consistently working towards rural upliftment and environmental conservation.

The presence of Shri Amarjit Singh Ji, a member of the Village Panchayat, further added significance to the event as he represented the voice of the local community. The collaboration between the institute, the NGO, and the Panchayat highlighted the importance of collective efforts in achieving the vision of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The event was designed not only as a cleanliness drive but also as an awareness campaign where students, villagers, and community leaders joined hands to promote cleanliness, personal safety, and responsibility towards the environment. By engaging multiple stakeholders, the program served as a platform to inspire positive behavioral changes, strengthen the community’s sense of responsibility, and encourage the youth to take a leading role in nation-building.

Program Highlights

  1. Welcome & Awareness Session
    • The event commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries.
    • Shri Gurdeep Singh Ji, Founder of the NGO, shared valuable insights about collective responsibility in keeping the environment clean.
  2. Motivational Talk by Village Representative
    • Shri Amarjit Singh Ji (Village Panchayat Member) addressed the gathering.
    • He encouraged students and villagers to actively participate in cleanliness drives, ensure safety in daily practices, and take small steps to protect the environment.
  3. Student Participation
    • Students from UIET actively engaged in the cleanliness drive across the village streets and common areas.
    • Posters and slogans were prepared by students to spread awareness about hygiene, waste segregation, and eco-friendly practices.
  4. Community Engagement
    • Villagers also participated enthusiastically, inspired by the words of the guests.
    • Discussions were held on how to manage household waste, avoid plastic use, and adopt green practices.
