Youth Festival: YUVA 2022

Sant Baba Bhag Singh University had organized youth festival “YUVA-22” on 28-29 June 2022 with vision and mission to encourage multi-talented youth of university. The youth festival “YUVA-22” aimed to propagate the concept of spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage, and adventure amongst the youth by exhibiting their cultural prowess in a common platform. A youth festival typically was a themed event that had a wide variety of activities for young people. It was an annual festival of the youth, for the youth and by the youth.
The activities of Youth festival included competitive and non-competitive cultural events, intellectual discourses, Giddha, Bhangra, Still Photography, Drama, Mime, Debates, Declamation, Fine arts activities, etc. The center of the festival focuses on cultural aspects and a number of other programmes covering a wide variety of activities, which not only reflect the spirit of youth but also peace and development. Besides all this, this festival provided an exposure to the youth for the expression and fulfillment of their cultural talents and aspirations. Youth festivals refreshed the minds of youngsters and provided an opportunity to them to show their talent.

  • With the blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji (Brahm ji), and with the benign endorsement of our Respected Chancellor Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji, under the able guidance of Respected Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University has organized YUVA-22 (Two days annual Youth Festival), which was began on 28/06/2022 with the great fanfare at the Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khaila, Jalandhar. It is a two day festival and a lot of cultural, literary, fine arts events were organized. On first Day, events related to Music, Fine Arts and Theatre were held. The Youth Festival started with the Shabad Gayan by Mr. Kailash Atwal and his students. Thereafter, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar formally addressed the gathering. He talked about the importance of holding such festivals and how it provides ample opportunities to the youngsters to show-case their talent. He gave his best wishes for the success of the festival. Then the stream of events were started with Shabad and Vaar Gayan, then other events: folk song (solo), solo song, mime, theatre performances were held. The off-stage events were also held simultaneously at different locations. The dignitaries who were present at the event were Honorable Vice-Chancellor SBBSU, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Secretary of Managing Council S. Hardaman Singh Minhas, S. Mohinder Singh Dosanjh a progressive farmer and S. Joginder Singh member management committee, Dr. Indu Sharma (Registrar, SBBSU), Dr. Aneet Kumar (Dean Academics, SBBSU), Dr. Vijay Dhir (Dean UIET & Director IQAC), all teaching and non teaching staff and students were present during first Day of annual Youth Festival
  • Day 2

  • The second day of the annual Youth Festival (Yuva-22) at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar was a full of fun and frolic. It was a matter of great honor that the Chancellor of the university, Sant Baba Sarwan Singh, himself graced the occasion with his holy presence. Accompanying him were Baba Janak Singh and Sant Gian Singh, from Dera Jabbar. They were accorded a floral welcome by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar and S. Hardaman Singh Minhas, Secretary of the managing committee. Two other members of the managing committee, S. Joginder Singh and S, Amarjit Singh were also honored by giving siropao by the Chancellor.
  • S. Hardaman Singh addressed the gathering briefly. He expressed his happiness over the quality of talent exhibited the day before and commended the organizers for putting up a brilliant show at a short notice. He also announced that exceptionally talented students would be given fee concession in the coming semesters.
  • The first event of the day was Vaar singing, which was performed by two gifted students, Samta and Gurleen Kaur. Then followed literary competitions wherein events of poetry recitation, declamation and debate were held. After a few guest items, solo dance competition began. Girls and boys from various institutes gave riveting performances to the lively and robust beats of Punjabi songs. The contestants were cheered lustily by the audience. This was followed by another interesting competition, of Punjabi Attire. Girls sashayed on the stage wearing resplendent traditional Punjabi dresses, exhibiting pride in their rich culture. There was a question round as well in which the contestants were asked questions relating to Punjabi culture.
  • The festival reached its grand finale with the most anticipated events, giddha and bhangra. The hall reverberated with sounds of dhol and the audience gave a resounding applause to the performers.And finally, the prize distribution ceremony was held .The winners were given prizes by the honorable Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and members of the managing committee. The stage was admirably managed by Dr. Sangeeta, Mr. Sarabjit Singh and Ms. Paramjit Kaur. The YUVA-22 festival was superbly organized and choreographed by Dr. Nirmal Kaur, Ms. Surinder Kaur and Ms. Amanpreet Kaur.
  • ll in all, the two-day youth festival was a resounding success and a memorable event.
