About Conference

Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organizied a three days International Conference on Research and Innovation in Multidisciplinary Studies (ICRIMS-2022) in hybrid (both online and offline) mode, which allowed for both physical and online participation of the attendees. ICRIMS provided an ideal academic platform for leading academicians, scientists and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of multidisciplinary studies. The conference presented emerging technologies and novel research results in all aspects of Sciences, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Management and Humanities. An effort was made to make the audience aware of multidisciplinary fields and the recent advances in these fields on various aspects. Participation from diverse groups of people and discussions provided useful ways in conquering challenges which mankind is facing today. Therefore, the emphasis was laid on paying attention towards nature and to bring into light all possible measures to resolve the various issues so that one can contribute in maintaining the life on Earth for longer period.

  • Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organized three-day International Conference on Research and Innovation in Multidisciplinary Studies ‘ICRIMS-2022’ in collaboration with ICT Academy, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), under the Aegis of MoE-IIC & IQAC from 30th May to 1st June, 2022. During the opening of the Conference on 30th May, 2022; Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Vice-Chancellor of the University paid his sincere obeisance to the founder and first Chancellor of SBBSU, Revered Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and second chancellor, Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji). Thereafter, Dr. Parmar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the present Chancellor of SBBSU, Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji and the esteemed management of the University to provide their support to organize this three-day Conference. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar accorded a cordial welcome to the entire International and National experts, key note speakers, invited guests, participants from various universities, colleges, government departments etc., who participated both through offline and online mode. The conference was commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and shabad gayan ceremony which was held in the Seminar Hall, first floor, Block-5 of the University.
  • During inaugural session, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Harmohinder Singh Bedi (chief guest of the day), Hon'ble Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh delivered his inaugural speech. He told about the need of the indigenous education system to ensure the survival as well as transmission of Indian knowledge system. He emphasized that Indigenous Traditional Knowledge must be inculcated in the course curriculum of each programme in the higher education institutions. Prof. Bedi highlighted that Indian ancient system, its Vedas specifically Rigveda and scholars of Nirmala Panth has tremendously contributed to the current knowledge of science and education; and revitalizing these basic knowledge banks shall help the learners to achieve their full human potential, and develop an equitable system/society, and shall promote overall development of the nation. According to Prof. Bedi, inculcating the mother languages like Punjabi culture and Punjabi language, along with other languages and interdisciplinary courses shall help the students to transform their lives towards betterment.
  • Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board in his online address discussed about the significance of the green earth and safe environment for sustainable development. He emphasized that to save earth, the change from within one’s self must be initiated and only then one can change the system. Dr. Vig urged the participants to indulge in tree plantation drives, reduce the use of plastic and to identify alternatives to single-use plastic like cloth/jute/plastic bags and degradable cutleries etc. Professor Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman, PPCB in virtual address gave a message to start form our self to make earth pollution free and no to single use of plastic.
  • Dr. Gurnam Kaur Bedi, Retd. Principal Government College Amritsar in her address emphasized that understanding of basic things can help anyone to develop creative or innovative techniques to solve any problem. Besides this, she told the importance of multidisciplinary research, and languages in the Indian culture. The invited eminent guests of Day-1 included Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST); -cum-Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Research & Innovation; -cum-Member Secretary, Punjab Biodiversity Board; Dr. Kulbir Singh Bath, Joint Director, PSCST; and Dr. Geeta Sikka, Associate Professor, CSE, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. On the first day, Chancellor, SBBSU; S. Hardaman Singh Minhas, Honourable Secretary, Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Charitable Society (SBBSMCS), Khiala; S. Joginder Singh and S. Gian Singh, Society members, SBBSMCS were also present.

Besides these, the eminent guests of Day-2 also included Prof. (Dr.) Promila Pathak, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr. Mangat Rai Bhardwaj, Wimblebury, Cannock, Staffordshire, UK.
  • Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab who presided over as chief guest on 2nd day of the conference, gave emphasis to the importance of creativeness and inventiveness in research, assessment and evaluation so that the research in Punjab should come at the International level. An esteemed entrepreneur, Mr. Ashok Kumar Arora, General Manager, XPO Logistics, UK and former General Manager, Mark & Spencer, UK, in his virtual address shared the practices that must be adopted by a person so as to become successful entrepreneur and also shared his success story. Mr. Arora gave key tips for becoming the better administrator and how to develop one’s personality. A great philanthropist and renowned social worker, Mr. Jatinder Jay Minhas, President & CEO, Elegant Development Inc., acquainted the audience with his memories and passionate association with Dera Sant Baba Bhag Singh Dera, Santpura since his youthful days. Mr. Jay Minhas motivated the faculty members to work ardently and also empathized to come forward to serve SBBSU with his full honesty/integrity. He stressed upon collaboration between SBBSU with International Universities by through Memorandum of Understanding with the foreign universities/colleges, and the alumni of the University. Mr. Jatinder Minhas informed about his consistent efforts to place the students of the Sant Baba Bagh Singh University in the global companies like Google, Youtube, Twitter etc. An emerging health expert, Ms. Navpreet Kaur Parmar, Hospital & Health Care Professional, Canada informed about various career opportunities for health professionals and various courses available in Canada. She guided the students of life sciences and allied health sciences to make adequate educational and occupational choices in order to make promising career in Canada in the field of Health Sciences. Ms. Parmar told students about the basic requirements and demands that are pre-requisite to get a dream job in Canada with job satisfaction.
  • Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti from Punjabi University, Patiala highlighted the importance of criticism and meta-criticism and new techniques in the research. He laid his emphasis on dire need of understanding the purpose of literary criticism, to broaden one’s understanding of an author's work and to discover how a work of literature functioned as a self-contained aesthetic object. Dr. Bhatti told that a research critique enables a researcher to refine and improve his research endeavors. Prof. (Dr.) Amardeep Singh Dhiman, Punjabi University Patiala, discussed about the impact of technological advancements in upliftment of livelihood of people belonging to various socio-economic groups. Prof. Dhiman informed that the advances in technology are directly correlated with the enhanced levels of income, that leads to the improvement of living conditions and long-term prospective. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, Director Sports, Brampton, Canada, told about the importance of sports in the development of the person through his virtual address. He emphasized on value of sports in daily life and in promotion of harmony, building tolerance, bringing people together across boundaries, and inculcating strategic thinking, goal setting, leadership skills, and risk taking in the individuals.

  • Professor (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala discussed about the true implementation of National Education Policy in Higher Educational Institutions for thorough attainment of the academic goals, and the overall progression as well as the development of an individual in order to meet the Nation’s inclusive development goals. Prof. Singh brought to light the academic shift towards multidisciplinary education and research instead of traditional core streams. He highlighted the importance of fair research and research policy at any institution, focused on development of innovations, academic skills, continuous deliberations and analysis-based learning for the holistic development. An eminent speaker, Mr. Manjit Singh Nijjar, an entrepreneur having more than 34 years of corporate experience from UK with broad political and professional networking at Global Level addressed the participants on third day of the conference. Mr. Nijjar is working as business development associate with Parkside Hotel Group. Besides this, he is Senior Honorary NRI coordinator and member of high powered investment committee Govt. of Punjab and working on socio-economic development in Punjab. On the last day of Conference, through his virtual address, he illuminated the research scholars and academicians about the significance of the global connectivity. He laid emphasis as collaborations and associations with foreign institutions and universities.
  • Er. Gurinder Singh Majithia, Chief Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board urged the participants to “say no to single use of plastic and save earth”. He released the banner of Punjab Pollution Control Board and explained about the harmful impact of single use plastic on the environment. He made the participants aware about the water and air related pollution and the steps taken by the government as well as PPCB to control the same. Er. Majithia also highlighted various acts associated with the Air, Water, Noise and Soil pollution. He emphasized on minimizing the use of resources for the sustainable development. An expert of law, Dr. Vandana Kumar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, discussed about the significance of law in daily life. She elaboratively explained the laws that one follows subconsciously every day and major decisions taken by the courts related to common man.
  • Valedictory Session
  • On the last day of this conference the award distribution and facilitation ceremony was held. In this event the renowned academicians, officials, faculty members, research scholars and the students were given awards for their contribution in the various fields. During valedictory session, ‘Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji Memorial Excellence Award -2022’ were given to acknowledge the Life time achievements of four prominent educationists and also two more distinguished awards were conferred upon to renowned academicians as mentioned below .
  • On the basis of tremendous contributions in the area of languages, Padam Shree Prof. (Dr.) Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh was conferred upon with Life time achievement award in the field of languages.
  • Being a renowned academician and a great historian, Vice-Chancellor SBBSU, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar was conferred upon with Life time achievement award in the field of History.
  • To acknowledge the incredible contributions in the scientific research and innovations, Professor (Dr.) Pritpal Singh Dhillon, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab was conferred upon with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of Sciences’.
  • For the significant contribution and incredible accomplishments, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh for Leadership, Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala was conferred upon with Life time achievement in the field of Management and Leadership.
  • For creating environment-awareness and contribution for the protection of earth/environment, the consistent efforts of Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Boardand Professor, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, Guru nanak Dev University, Amritsar were acknowledged by conferring upon the‘Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji Memorial Excellence Award -2022: Environmentalist of the Year’ Award.
  • An eminent academician, Director Education of Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma was conferred upon with ‘Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji Memorial Excellence Award -2022: Best Academician Award’.
  • Apart from these, the below mentioned awards were given in open category, purely on the basis of academic and research achievements as mentioned in the bio-data submitted by the applicant. The cumulative marks for various contributions of applicants were calculated on the basis of score-card that included the criteria such as academic contribution, development of e-content, research projects sanctioned/completed, innovations, national/international publications, books/book chapters edited and authored, MOOC courses, National/International awards, editorial contributions, Govt. recognized contributions to society and extension services etc., that were evaluated by the team of eminent judges.

The event of award distribution in different categories was coordinated by Dr. Anil K Singh (Joint Organizing Secretary of the Conference) and Dr. Umesh Sehgal (Joint Organizing Secretary of the Conference). The registration of the conference was managed by Dr. Younis Ahmed Majeed, Joint Organizing Secretary of the Conference.
  • In the Valedictory session, the announcements about various Awards were done by Dr. Rajesh Dogra. The presidential address during valedictory was delivered by S. Hardaman Singh Minhas, Secretary, SBBSMCS and Chief Conference Coordinator. The vote of thanks was conveyed by Dr. Aneet Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the Conference and Dean Academics, SBBSU. During the conference, all Deans and Deputy Deans of various institutes; Heads, Coordinators and In charges of various Departments, all the teaching staff-members and technical staff members were present. Dr. Indu Sharma, Registrar & President (SBBSU-IIC), Dr. Vijay Dhir, Director IQAC & Dean UIET, and Dr. Vikas, Director R&D were the Conference coordinators. The function was moderated by Dr. Sandeep Randhawa. In this international conference more than 500 participants were there and a total of 450 research papers were presented through blended mode.
