Ph.D. Entrance Test for October 2025 Batch will be held offline on 6th September (Saturday) at 10:00 AM onward

Applications are invited for admission  to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme (Full-Time and Part-Time) for the Academic Year 2025-2026 (October 2025 batch) in following disciplines: Botany, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Zoology, Law, Education, Physical Education, English, History, Political Science, Punjabi, Economics, Computer Science & Application, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Commerce, Management, Hotel & Tourism Management, Agriculture (Horticulture (Fruit Science); Horticulture (Vegetable Science); Agronomy; Soil Science & Agriculture chemistry), Library & Information Science and Environmental Science. 
PhD Programme in Agriculture viz: Horticulture (Fruit Science); Horticulture (Vegetable Science); Agronomy and Soil Science & Agriculture chemistry) is offered through Full time mode only as per ICAR guidelines.

Instructions for Ph.D. Entrance Test for October 2025 Batch

  1. Those who have cleared CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/GATE in their respective disciplines need not appear in the entrance test. Their merit will be finalised as per latest UGC norms (UGC guidelines issued vide Notification No.F4-1(UGC-NET Review committee)/2024 (NET)/140648 dated March 27, 2024).
  2. PhD entrance test will be conducted for all disciplines (where NET is not conducted as well as for candidates who are not CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/GATE qualified).
  3. However, it is mandatory for all candidates (both NET/GATE qualified and non-qualified) to fill the application form online and deposit the applicable registration fee of Rs. 2500/- before the due date. Fill this form with correct information, otherwise the form will be rejected.
  4. SBBSU will conduct PhD Entrance test for admission to PhD programme as per the schedule given in advertisement.
  5. Candidates who qualify the test will be eligible/shortlisted to appear in Interview.
    However, it is mandatory for candidates (Both NET/GATE qualified and non qualified) to fill the application online and deposit the applicable registration fee (2500/-) before due date.
  6. All information should be filled correctly otherwise application form will be rejected.

3. How to Apply:

The link to fill the online application form can be accessed through university website: www.sbbsuniversity.ac.in. Registration fee of Rs. 2500/- is required to be paid online by 29/08/2025. Fee deposit link is given below.

All candidates/applicants are required to apply online. Application fee shall not be refunded in any case.

The entrance exam will be conducted offline, on 06/09/2025 (Saturday) from 10:00 AM onwards. The candidates are required to report at least 30 minutes before the start time of the exam.

  • Paper I (Research Methodology): 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Paper II (Subject Specific Paper): 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Entrance question paper consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions carrying 1 mark each (50 questions from Research Methodology and 50 questions from the concerned subject).

The admit card can be viewed/downloaded from 29/05/2025 onwards from the University website.

The interview of all shortlisted candidates (including candidates who have cleared NET/SLET/GATE) will be conducted on the same day after 1:00 PM onwards.

The final result of the selected candidates will be declared after the interview.

Start filling the online registration form:

  1. Fill the candidate name followed by father's name, mother's name & nationality.
  2. Fill the gender followed by the category.
  3. Fill pin number, Email ID, Mobile No., Aadhaar Card No.
  4. Upload the latest passport size photograph (image should be less than 1 MB) and scanned OFFLINE fee receipt image along with its number and date.
  5. Fill the complete details of educational qualifications.
  6. Check your details properly and click on the submit button.
