Sant Baba Bhag Singh University Organizes Webinar on "Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management"

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji, Brahm ji and with the benign endorsement of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji, under the able guidance of Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar and with the immense support of Dean UIET, Director R&D, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, a One day Webinar at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University on “Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management”, was successfully organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, under the aegis of IQAC and IIC, on 3rd July, 2021.

Sant Baba Bhag Singh University has constantly added value by incorporating the best practices and philosophies to bridge the gap between education through books and the practical realities of the outside world so that the students are fully equipped to deliver their best.
The main objective of this workshop was to make participants familiar with the Intellectual Property Rights, Copyright, Trademark and Patent Filing process. It has gained a special importance for all the domains of socio-economic development.
The resource person for the webinar, Dr. Abhinandan Bassi, Assistant Professor, Law department at Regional Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab covered various topics like what is Intellectual property, Introduction to Patent, Contents and process of Patent filing, Copyright, Trademark, and E-filing/physical filing. The session was conducted to cover the technical aspects with well-known examples. Further, the role of Patenting was very well elaborated through case studies. One such being, put forth in CNBC.com, where Pfizer CEO, Albert Bourla warned that waiving patent protection for COVID vaccine would setoff worldwide race for raw materials, which would threaten safe and efficient manufacturing of COVID shots.
This workshop helped the participants to get insight into the intellectual property rights, detail process of Copyright, Trademark, Patent filing, IP Management and its role in Start-ups. The workshop received highly enthusiastic response from about 100 participants.
During Q&A session, participants came up with their queries, which was very well addressed by the Resource person. Dr. Jagdeep Kaur, Associate Professor, Coordinator CSE and Dy. Dean UIET, gave vote of Thanks to the Resource person for sparing her valuable time to address the students of the university on much needed area of IPR and IP Management. She further thanked the entire SBBSU fraternity for their endless support.
